Every Inchie Monday: Etna

Hello Folks,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is Etna.  I work in advance with my inchies and made most of them when the list came out and in the weeks following.  So when I made my Etna inchies in February, the volcano was actually errupting.   How cool.

My first version is a part of a painting called "Mount Etna from Taorima" by Thomas Cole.  I don't know the date of the painting, but Cole lived from 1801-1858.  He was an American artist known as the founder of the Hudson River School, a movement of American landscape painters.  I adore landscape painting.  I really liked the classical ruins in the foreground of this painting, giving a sense of how long this mountain has been erupting.

My quilled inchie is an attempt to get the idea of the fire and sparks, etc. that is part of a volcanic eruption.  It is really quite sparkly!

Every Inchie Monday: Wave

Hello Folks,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is wave.  I couldn't figure out how to draw a hand wave, like the queen, so went with the water version instead.  I confess it is somewhat copied from a picture I saw on google images, but I enjoyed using my prismacolors to colour it.

My quilled wave is a stylized version of a wave (made before I figured out what to do about the glue residue).

Enjoy your week.  Hope the weather is good and you can go somewhere where you can enjoy the water and waves.  I used to love just standing in the lake and letting the waves wash over me as a girl.  Happy memories.  Believe me, there are a lot of lakes in Ontario.

Every Inchie Monday: Pillow

Hello folks,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is pillow.  This took a little bit of thought and I eventually went with a semi-copy of a painting by Franz Marc.  My colours are different and I don't have the detail of the original painting, but I wasn't going for accuracy - just an excuse to get a cat in the inchie!

My quilled inchie was a puzzler.  I finally decided to make it somewhat three-dimensional.  It sort off looks like a pillow.  I guess.  lol.

Every Inchie monday: Envelope

Hello Folks,

This week's word at Every inchie monday is Envelope.  Nothing spectacular this week, just ordinary envelopes!  I didn't draw one, instead making one out a teeny, tiny piece of paper.

My quilled inchie was a bit difficult because I am just beginning to learn how to make inchies with the paper on it's side.  It's very difficult to keep the 1/8 [edit] inch wide strip of paper upright on its edge.  Yet some of the most beautiful quilling is done this way.  (Sorry for the shadows in the photograph.  I had a hard time getting the lighting right.)

Every Inchie Monday: Movie

Hello Folks,

Being as it is a holiday here in Canada, I almost forgot to post!

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is movie.  I decided to use a picture from the greatest movie of all time: The Wizard of Oz.  I adore this movie, and I especially love Munchkinland.  One day, I am going to paint this scene, or one close to it.  I even have a large canvas to do so, just don't feel yet that I can do it.  Someday.

For my quilled inchie, I made an old time movie camera:

Sorry I missed commenting on everyone's inchies last week.  Times have been trying, but things are improving.  I do love comments and thank you for each and every one. They make me happy.

Every Inchie Monday: Diagram

Hello Folks,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is Diagram.  I think this may be the hardest word I've ever made an inchie for.  Perhaps I was being too literal and  I should have drawn just anything, which would have been a diagram.  But instead, for my drawn inchie, I decided to diagram a sentence, like they used to do back in the day in school:

My quilled inchie was much more difficult.  I decided to do a Venn diagram, but I think it needs a drawn one so you can see what it is supposed to look like.

So there you have a weird quilled venn diagram.  I actually pulled a muscle in my arm quilling, which, added to my rheumatoid arthritis, the cellulitus in my leg, and the constant visits to doctors, the wound clinic, and the hospital, has made my life rather trying for the past few weeks.  But things are getting better .

Every Inchie Monday: Leopard

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is Leopard.  I love all cats in any shape or form.   I chose to draw a rather cute Leopard:

It was more difficult to come up with an idea for my quilled inchie, because there was no way I could fit an entire leopard into one inch.  So instead, I made a stylized version of a leopard skin pattern:
