Every Inchie Monday: Hotel

Hello Folks,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is hotel.  I love hotels - they are my idea of camping out.  I could never understand why people would want to sleep on the ground with the ants.

When I was a child I played a lot of Monopoly with my older brother, and lost a lot.  I always wanted a hotel on Boardwalk:

My quilled inchie is supposed to look like the hotel signs you see on the highway to tell you there is accommodation up ahead.  It consists of a figure reclining on a bed with a roof over top:

Every Inchie Monday: Myth

Hello Folks, 

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is Myth.  I love mythology.  In university I took an art history course entitled 'Myth and Allegory in Italian Renaissance Art'.  I was in seventh heaven.  Best course I ever took, which unfortunately was never offered again.  lol.  Don't know why - too specific I suppose.  But it was indeed glorious studying all those wonderful paintings and how they depicted myths.

For my drawn inchie I have a couple of silly mythological dragons.  I didn't want to draw anyone killing them as always happens in mythology:

I got a little more traditional with my quilled inchie and did my best to depict Medusa, with her stunning gaze and all those snakes in her hair:

Every Inchie Monday: Rhythm

Hello Fellow Inchers,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is one of those difficult concepts:  rhythm.  Not only is it hard to spell it's not easy to visualize.  This week I have chosen to go with one of my favourite musical teams, George and Ira Gershwin and their wonderul "I've got Rhythm".  My first inchie is the first musical phrase:

My quilled inchie is a single note.  This one was made quite a long time ago - I've since figured out how not to let the glue show, but I didn't feel like re-doing the inchie.

Every Inchie Monday: Ear

Hello Fellow Inchers,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is ear.  I'm not very good at drawing people and when I do they always have hair over their ears because whereas noses are difficult, ears are impossible.  So instead I've gone a bit outside of the box.  Anyone remember old - very old - televisions that needed 'rabbit ears' to tune in the picture properly?

My quilled inchie is a little far out there as well.  No way could I quill a human ear, so I went for something to cover them when it gets cold:  ear muffs.

Every Inchie Monday: Necklace

Hi Folks, 

Thank you for visiting.  Today's word at Every Inchie Monday is necklace.  My first inchie is a beaded necklace I made a few years ago (I didn't just go out and make it for an inchie, although I am that dedicated.  lol).  The beads are all flowers and leaves and it is very summery.  The colour is a bit washed out in this photo.  I'm still getting used to the camera on my phone and lighting.  

My second inchie is, of course, quilled  (Do you think I like cool colours?):

Every Inchie Monday: Pavillion

Hi Folks,

I love the word pavillion (today's word at Every Inchie Monday).  Don't know why, just do. 

My first offering is a drawing of a local pavillion, found at Dundurn Castle, in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  Yes, we have a castle - sort of.   It's actually a very large house where Sir Allan MacNab lived.  (I'll let you look him up if you're not Canadian.)  Keep in mind, this is a city that has a 300 foot 'mountain', which is what we call the Niagara Escarpment which runs through the city (that's what Niagara Falls falls over).  The city is sort of divided into two parts: the mountain and below the mountain, which those that live there call the city.  Hamilton is also called 'the waterfall city' because of the amount of small waterfalls that go over this escarpment.  It's very pretty.  

So this pavillion is part of the Dundurn Castle estate:

And, of course, I offer you my quilled inchie.  Not too bad this week (if a little out of focus).  If I could find my inchies I'd retake the picture.  I think they are hiding somewhere with my crochet hooks:

Every Inchie Monday: Lamp

Hello Fellow Inchers,

I confess I forgot about Monday this week.  Oops.  I didn't have time to draw this week's word at Every Inchie Monday, Lamp, so I have used an inchie photo.  One of my favourite art movements is Art Deco.  Here is an Art Deco lamps for the first inchie.

And here is my rather odd quilled lamp.  It was rather hard to make a lamp and this is what I came up with.
