Every Inchie Monday: Shell

Hello Folks,

Shells, this week's word at Every Inchie Monday, are so interesting.  They can be so beautiful.  And it's fascinating to think that a creature once lived inside the ones you find on the beach.  I've drawn just a pretty pink shell:

My quilled inchie was a lot of fun to make, although quite difficult to fit in one inch!

Have a great week.

Every Inchie Monday: Octopus

Hello Fellow Inchers,

Today's word for Every Inchie Monday is Octopus.  What a great word.  I don't think I'd ever want to meet one in person, or eat one, but I love cute depictions of them.  The one weird thing I know about octopi is that for some reason they get thrown on the ice at Detroit Red Wings hockey games (in the playoffs, I think, or maybe for hat-tricks?).  I have no idea why.  But it must be pretty gross cleaning them up.  Not to mention wasting a precious resource.

Here is my drawn inchie:

And I have two versions of quilled inchies (sorry for the blurriness):

Sorry I didn't get around to commenting on everyone's inchie last week.  I'm having some medical issues.

Have a great week.  Couldn't we all use eight arms to get everything done?

Every Inchie Monday: Gecko

Hello Folks,

It's been a busy week for me, hence the late posting.

I'm not fond of lizards of any kind including this week's word at Every Inchie Monday Gecko.  I find them kind of creepy. Green, slimy (or at least they look slimy) big eyes, sucker feet and they move very fast don't they?  But then, I'm not an outdoors girl and I don't live in a country where they are native, so I've never met one in person.  I tried to get the green, but couldn't get the slimy in my drawn offering:

I couldn't fit an entire quilled gecko on to the square inch so I did a sort of stylized foot.  Couldn't quite decide how many toes the creature has as it was difficult to tell in pictures, but I think it's five. (The one above is kind of cartoony):

Enjoy your week, no matter how many toes you have.

Every Inchie Monday: Knitting

Hello Friends,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is knitting.  (Always pronounced K-nitting in my silly mind.  Like Knives are K-nif -ees).

I love to knit, although I'm not very good at it.  I like to knit, but hate to purl, especially lately since my arthritis has made it painful to execute.  So I tend to make very simple things: I'm a wiz at scarves and dishcloths.  Lol.  Oh, and I can't follow a pattern  -  at least not very well.  I'm always terrified of dropping a stitch because I don't know how to fix it when I do.  So I tend to make narrow things too!   And it doesn't help that I'm allergic to actual wool and have to stick to acrylic or cotton blends.  Sigh: none of those gorgeous mohairs and exotic wools for me.

I found some of my grandmother's sock needles and thin wool, and made an inchie size swatch.

For my quilled inchie I did some needles stuck through a ball of wool (although I understand that is very bad for the wool).

Let's hope we can start putting all those knitted scarves away this week as spring progresses.
