Every Inchie Monday: Pavillion

Hi Folks,

I love the word pavillion (today's word at Every Inchie Monday).  Don't know why, just do.

My first offering is a drawing of a local pavillion, found at Dundurn Castle, in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  Yes, we have a castle - sort of.   It's actually a very large house where Sir Allan MacNab lived.  (I'll let you look him up if you're not Canadian.)  Keep in mind, this is a city that has a 300 foot 'mountain', which is what we call the Niagara Escarpment which runs through the city (that's what Niagara Falls falls over).  The city is sort of divided into two parts: the mountain and below the mountain, which those that live there call the city.  Hamilton is also called 'the waterfall city' because of the amount of small waterfalls that go over this escarpment.  It's very pretty.

So this pavillion is part of the Dundurn Castle estate:

And, of course, I offer you my quilled inchie.  Not too bad this week (if a little out of focus).  If I could find my inchies I'd retake the picture.  I think they are hiding somewhere with my crochet hooks:

Keep covered this week.

  1. You are so cute with your quilled inchie :) And as soon as I read about a castle in your home town, my reaction was "a castle in Canada?!", then I read your next phrase and smiled. Wow, you live near the Niagara...... and I live near koalas...... we're doing ok for ourselves with location, aren't we.

  2. I did not think that Canada had castles either! How cool! Love both of the inchies, so much detail. I do hope that you find your inchies. I would lose it if I lost mine.

  3. Two wonderful inchies. How do you find the time to do two inchies the week? Something of priority I think. Would like to draw inchies too.

  4. Awesome work, Kia! Thank you for the history lesson--so I learned they call that particular pavillion a folly, very interesting! It's been a very long time since I've seen Niagra--back at Expo 67, but we have friends in Mississauga and look forward to visiting again sometime. It's up there with the Grand Canyon. Have a brilliant day! c

  5. I have never seen the falls even though I didn't live all that far away for many years. What a shame. But, it was nice to hear your story and see your cute little inchies!
