Every Inchie Monday: Knitting

Hello Friends,

This week's word at Every Inchie Monday is knitting.  (Always pronounced K-nitting in my silly mind.  Like Knives are K-nif -ees).

I love to knit, although I'm not very good at it.  I like to knit, but hate to purl, especially lately since my arthritis has made it painful to execute.  So I tend to make very simple things: I'm a wiz at scarves and dishcloths.  Lol.  Oh, and I can't follow a pattern  -  at least not very well.  I'm always terrified of dropping a stitch because I don't know how to fix it when I do.  So I tend to make narrow things too!   And it doesn't help that I'm allergic to actual wool and have to stick to acrylic or cotton blends.  Sigh: none of those gorgeous mohairs and exotic wools for me.

I found some of my grandmother's sock needles and thin wool, and made an inchie size swatch.

For my quilled inchie I did some needles stuck through a ball of wool (although I understand that is very bad for the wool).

Let's hope we can start putting all those knitted scarves away this week as spring progresses.

  1. The trick to learning how to pick up a dropped stitch is to use a practice piece with light colored yarn in a worsted weight. Knit about ten rows and then drop a stitch on purpose. Yes, you can do this. I was the same way and finally, after forcing myself this way, I got over that fear. Go for it! Nice inchies by the way :)

  6. Kia, you know those signs that read, "Keep Calm and..?" I saw one that reads, "Carry Yarn." I love that. And I'm so all over the housekeeping thing. Lovely work, sorry to hear the hands can't keep up, I know what you mean. Have a brilliant day! c

  7. Me too I prefer knitting than purl. Your first inchie makes me smile. You write that you are not good at it but I think your knitted inchie looks amazing.
    Your third one is brilliant.
