Every Inchie Monday: Snail

Hello Folks,

When one of my nieces was young she just loved snails, todays word at Every Inchie Monday.  She even had an aquarium filled with them (and a very tolerant father).  Personally they make my skin crawl.   And I can't imagine eating them.  (Such a provincial.)   Did you know there are actually carnivorous snails? ((shudder))

Nevertheless, I do love one of the world's most famous snails, Gary, from SpongeBob SquarePants.  For those of you who don't watch children's cartoons, he's SpongeBob's pet and meows like a cat:

I had a lot of fun making the quilled snail.  I made two or three different ones, but chose to display the one with those googly eyes!

Have a non-slimy week.

I am the Diva 205: Chinese New Year Sheep

Hello Folks,

I haven't been feeling very creative lately and have missed a few challenges.  I fell in the snow (am doing ok now) and I hate this extreme cold with a passion.  It's all very depressing.

But enough of that.  This is my attempt to get back into the swing of things.  The Diva (of I am the Diva ) has reminded us that it is Chinese New Year Thursday and asked us to use this as our prompt.  I decided to use the year of the sheep (instead of the goat) mostly because for some odd reason I think sheep are adorable (even though I'm allergic to wool).  I've made a zia, using the tangle bunyip. (I borrowed the sheep from google.)  My Chinese character is pretty lame, but seems to be the one for sheep rather than that for goat - I think - I'm mostly going on  pictures from google, so this could really be anything!

She's sepia, mostly because that's the pen I grabbed by mistake.  But I had to include this next picture because for reasons beyond my ken, some people dye their sheep multi-colours.

I'm sure the dye is non-toxic.  I actually read somewhere that one farmer did this to entertain drivers as they drove by his farm.  Seems more of a dangerous distraction to me.  But it's a bit of welcome colour in an otherwise dreary February.

Every Inchie Monday: Texts

I haven't been feeling very creative lately and an inch is about all I seem able to do.  Fell in the snow, hate the record making cold, and it's still only February.  I have been reading a lot, though, so texts, this week's word at Every Inchie Monday, is appropriate.

I know there is a lot of 'newfangled' texting going on these days with phones, etc., but I decided to go with the old fashioned text meaning the written word.
,
My first inchie is just a jumble of different words that I like on a piece of designer paper with text on it:

My quilled inchie is supposed to be three tiny little books on the same paper:

Have a great week and enjoy reading a book.

Every Inchie Monday: Night

Hello Folks,

Did you know I'm still afraid of the dark?  A bit silly for a supposed grown up well into her second half century.  It means, among other things, that I'm not very fond of being out at night, which is this week's word at Every Inchie Monday.  (How's that for a segue into the topic?)

So to me, night is more of a nightmare, and that is what I chose to depict this week.

"The Nightmare before Christmas" is one of my favourite movies.  I love that the whole thing is sung in rhyme.  Imagine how difficult that must have been to write.  Not to mention the stop motion animation.  (Sorry the scan is fuzzy -- the picture was too close to the binding of my sketchbook and I couldn't get it really flat.)

My quilled inchie is that which makes the night less scary -- by supplying light.

Of course, it had to be a blue moon, because it's prettier.

Have a safe week and keep looking under your bed for those monsters that live there after dark.  Personally, I sleep with a flashlight.

Every Inchie Monday: Kitchen

Hello Fellow Inchers,

We had a major snow storm last night and my internet is wonky on my computer - the power went off twice last night.  My computer is damaged and I think last night did it in.  Time for a new one.  So if I can post to EIM I will but may not be able to comment.  (I'm on my phone here.)

Well this week's word at Every Inchie Monday, kitchen, is certainly easier than last week's word talk.

The kitchen is my least favourite room in the house.  To say I hate cooking is an understatement.  But, being as I'm not all that fond of eating either (weird, I know), it isn't much of a tragedy, especially as I live alone.

So my inchie depicts the one appliance I find a necessity:

My best try at quilling this week is to make a cup for tea or coffee, found in the kitchen.

Have a fun week eating all the goodies from your kitchen.
