Well, once again this week's the Diva's challenge was a little bit difficult for me, mainly because I am fairly new to the tangling world so that it was hard to go back to look for old favourites when I've just begun!
Nevertheless, I chose a tangle I like - Pais - and did some different things - for me - with it.
First of all I used watercolour paper and inktense blocks as background colour. Note to self: colour first, tangle second. I had to redraw over the lines (is that a sin in the tangle world?) because I couldn't see the ink under the paint. It was quite relaxing to go over the lines so maybe I can get away with that one.
I also didn't use a string or restrict myself to any particular size. I just started drawing and when it felt done, I stopped. That was hard for me, as I am reassured by restrictions. It was like a very relaxed practice in my sketchbook and I think that was part of the point of the exercise. Here it is; hope you like it.
Pais is such a fun Pattern. It looks like you had fun. Very nice piece.
ReplyDeleteit's pretty. Very serene and underwater-ish.
ReplyDeleteAnother fun tangle and love the color... so much fun... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful tile. I love that vibrant color and the pattern is so flowing. Remember, there are no Zentangle police, so I think you are safe with drawing over the lines :)
ReplyDeleteI always think paise looks a bit like seaweed so that beautiful blue green background suits it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteVery nice :)
ReplyDeleteI like your Pais and I like the background too.
ReplyDeleteThe background color is great. And your pais looks very organic with a lot of movement. And how nice that you morphed a Butterfly out of pais. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLike the water color wash. It does remind me of an aquatic scene.

ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I think I'll try a color wash sometime. It really makes drawings pop!
ReplyDeleteHi Kia. Love the watercolor wash and how flowing Pais is. I also love the Pais butterfly (I like to add insects or bugs too). I used pastels and tried to be careful, but had to retrace the ink lines again also. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Rather reminds me of kelp.
ReplyDeleteI had the exact same difficulty - me being new to it all, how can I choose an "old favorite"? Well, it appears we collect our favorites almost when we start to move, which is very interesting (and though provoking for me). Very nice colors, and very nice pattern, and I loved the butterfly :)
