Gotta love the doors (this week's word at Every Inchie Monday) on the spaceship 'The Heart of Gold'. As the sales brochure for the ship says: "All the doors on this spaceship have a cheerful and sunny disposition. It is their pleasure to open for you, and their satisfaction to close again with the knowledge of a job well done." Of course, Marvin, the depressed Robot, hates them and their "pleased little clicks and whirrs."
Lots of different ways to go with door. My first thoughts went to the Dormouse from "Alice in wonderland" (Tenniel drawing). It's a little difficult to see the mouse between the white rabbit and the mad hatter, but I find these drawings so much more satisfying than the Disney version.
The words this year have been rather difficult for me to quill and once again my skill level couldn't cope with a door. So instead, I made an opening door out of paper. The paper on the outside of the door actually has a woodgrain pattern on it and there is a bead for a handle. Not sure, however, what is on the other side! Does it look happy?
Hope you run across many doors of opportunity this week. Thanks for dropping by.
I like that you asked if the door looks happy! I love it! Great door!
ReplyDeleteQuilling a door certainly sounds far too complex for me! Especially one that could open....but a wrought iron patterned garden door might just have been an option - I'm thinking acetate/clear plastic as a support here! Wow! Not sure how that idea popped into my head...I guess you could always give it a try if you really did want to have a whole year of quilling!

Love the door, and it looks a lot happier than mine. Sally's idea would work if you wanted a quilled one.
ReplyDeleteI like your happy door. You could quill the doorknob maybe?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a happy door to me
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx
Oh yes it looks happy ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat use of materials, Kia. I'd be happy to walk through a happy door! And Sally's idea is spectacular. Have a brilliant day! Cheryl
