Diva Challenge 171: Beads of Courage

The  Diva Challenge this week is about Beads of Courage.  The Diva writes, "Beads of Courage is an Arts in Medicine program that supports children and their families who are dealing with Life threatening or Chronic illnesses.  A child on the program would collect beautiful glass beads in recognition of the things whey have to go through in their daily lives, on their Medical Journey."

I remember once when I was hospitalized as a child, my father would give me a quarter (it was a long time ago) or nail polish, for every blood test, or procedure I had to endure, which seems very much in the spirit of this fabulous program.   I can't imagine the courage it takes for a young child to endure a chronic disease.

If my tangle looks messy, it is supposed to, because it is designed to look like my work surface when I am making beaded jewelry.

I've had a terrible time photographing this tangle.  Flash, no flash -- I can't get the sparkle that is there to show up.  This is the only photo I took that came close to getting the colours, especially the pink, correct.  In fact, my first version used twinkling H2O watercolours, which didn't photograph at all, so I redid it with coloured pencils.  Still, it looks much better in person.

The blue ribbon is for my personal ordeal:  rheumatoid disease.

It\s amazing how many tangle patterns you can turn into beads.  Some of the tangles I've used, with variations:  Maisie, BB, Beadlines, Mak-ra-mee, Sparkle, Stone Necklace, Barney.
