This weeks challenge at I am the Diva is to use the new 2" x 2" tiles that have been named Bijou (similar to the format known elsewhere on the net as "Twinchies"). These little tiles are very addictive. Because I am used to drawing inchies, ( see here and here for some examples), the size was not really an issue for me. I enjoyed doing them immensely, as I really like the smaller format. (Mine are not on official tiles. All my drawing is done by measuring squares in my sketchbook. You'll have to take my word that they are the correct size.) Like a lot of others, I had trouble stopping at one!
Also like a lot of other participants, I had to get Bijou himself into the picture. I liked the idea of a garden (again as a number of others did - the first one I saw was by Susan Bowden -- hers is much better than mine. I didn't realize until I went back to look at it how similar it was and how I had used a lot of the same tangles-- sorry Susan). I used the tangles flux, poke root, poke leaf, angel fish, sprigs and chirps. Here is my first little jewel:
Next, I did a monotangle using a pattern new to me: Jasmin.
And finally, I did one using Purk and Fassett, two favourites.
That's all for now. Thanks for dropping by and thank you very much for the lovely comments you have been leaving. I really appreciate them.
P.S. If anyone leaves a comment could you please tell me whether or not you are asked to prove you are not a robot? I don't know how to check this myself and I'd rather not have it there, if it is.
Al of them are elegant, organic and lovely. I like the little bijou on the first tile too that Sneek into the garden.
ReplyDeleteI love your delicate touch, especially on the first one.
ReplyDeleteWill I find pictures of your quilts here?
Unfortunately Sal, I don't have many pictures of my quilts and I can't find the ones I have. The quilts were all given away! I'm not currently working on anything because I find it difficult with my arthritic hands.
DeleteVery pretty. I think you did a really good job on such a small scale.
ReplyDeleteI did not get the robot message.
ReplyDeleteLove your last one with the Purk and Fasset! All are nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for answering the question I was thinking, "Would an artist, adept at creating Inchies, find the Bijou size a piece of cake to work with. You did great. Love the Purk.
ReplyDeleteI did not get the robot Quiz either. That's two of us. Does that mean no one will?
ReplyDeletecertainly hope so, as so many people find them difficult to see.
DeleteAll three are beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteSuch cute tiles!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty 'Bijou tiles!!!:0) Share Humanity
ReplyDeleteLovely tiles. The garden is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAm a little surprised there were not more gardens when people included Bijou. You did well with this. I would think that people who have been doing inchies would think nothing of this format. I think I like the Facet/ Purk tile the best. Nice shading on this.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is lovely and so arvthe other tiles.
ReplyDeleteNo robot question for me too.
DeleteThree beautiful tiles - I really love the first one!

ReplyDeleteWonderfully done twinchies. I love seeing little Bijou show up in so many of the tanged tiles too!
ReplyDeleteLove them, especially the first. I also like hiding Bijou in my Bijou tiles :)
